Announcing our new Head

On behalf of the Trustees, I am delighted to announce that Ben McCarey has been appointed as the next Head of Frensham Heights. From a field of 48 applicants, we will welcome Ben, currently Head of Holyport College, to the school next year.

Ben has been selected following a rigorous selection process which included student panels, the SLT, staff panels, and parent voice Ben was a popular choice - and he impressed us all with his deep commitment to progressive education and his obvious alignment with the Frensham ethos.

Let me share a little bit about Ben:

Ben and his wife Becky have two children, Millie (eight) and Felix (four) both of whom will attend Frensham. Coming from a long line of teachers, Ben grew up in boarding schools and, following nearly ten years working in state comprehensives in Oxfordshire and then inner London, Ben returned to living and working in a boarding school at Holyport College.

Holyport is a highly successful modern state boarding school which opened in 2014. Integral to establishing the College from the start, Ben became its Head in 2018. He has instilled a distinctive and progressive ethos at the heart of the school.. A long-time admirer of Frensham Heights, Ben is excited to get to know our school and its community over the coming months.

As we come to the conclusion of a busy year at Frensham, on behalf of the entire Governing Body, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our Senior Leadership Team, teachers and support staff who will continue to bring their energy and drive to moving Frensham forward.

I do hope to meet some OFs at tomorrow’s Founders Day and indeed over the coming months and years as we move towards the school’s centenary in 2025.
