It is with heavy heart that I share with the news of the passing of my sister Erica Segre after a 3 year battle with brain cancer. She was a dedicated academic and fellow at Trinity College Cambridge for 30 years. In great respect the College flag was flown at half-mast on the afternoon of 23rd April.
I wish to honour my sister Erica who has lost her battle at 57 years of age to brain cancer. She was an outstanding academic a fellow at Trinity College Cambridge University , accomplished writer, poet, painter who dedicated her life to pursuit of knowledge and excellence. She continued to publish and write and translate as way to normalise what was happening and which was integral in enabling her to beat the 6 month diagnosis to 2 and a half years. The last three months have been a torturous journey for her husband and 2 kids as COVID impeded them to be by her side in hospital for an extended period of time. But her husband fulfilled her wish and she was able to return home and die peacefully surrounded by Simon, Aurora and Gabriel. It is extremely painful not to be able to farewell her and posting this for my global family and friends who too will not be able to be by her side. She was one of a kind for sure...and we shared many adventures and challenges.
